Carrier review – KolKol Compact (Full Buckle)

IMG_1618

When this Indian company announced the release of their Compact Carrier full buckle which weighs less than 500 grams, my first reaction was, this seems too good to be true! Having used their standard carrier in the past and knowing the quality they offer, I decided to order this new carrier to add to my stash. The only thought I had was that I HAD to try this carrier that sounded so great and was getting rave reviews from people who had used it!

After placing my order, the delivery was quick and I got updates from their side at every step letting me know about dispatch and delivery status (a big plus for impatient people like me!). The parcel that arrived was so small that for a second I had a doubt if they had messed up my order. But much to my surprise and true to their promise, this carrier is really compact. Folds up small and weighs almost nothing! It comes in a pretty hand stitched  cloth bag with an easy to read concise user manual.

We put this carrier to a real test last week when we used it extensively with our son, wearing him for almost 5-6 hours every day. What we realised was that though the carrier feels weightless, it provides excellent support. The waist belt is stiff without being bulky and provides a good support to the back. The research and work done in making this carrier shows in the quality and comfort of it. An easy to obtain ergonomic M position, breathable cotton fabric making it a great option even in peak summer, comfortable shoulder straps and minimal adjustments makes this carrier a very user friendly one, especially for first time babywearers.

As you can see in the photo above, the panel is generously sized and i am sure we can easily use this carrier till my son is about 3 years old, if not more! I loved the colour options the company provides as well as the fabric choices. One can choose according to their budget and the current range available starts from 2500 INR and goes upto 4800 INR (tax and shipping exclusive) making this a very affordable carrier for a long term investment and use purpose.

These carriers are safety tested and made in India, giving job opportunity to locals and also uplifting and keeping alive the handwoven fabric weavers community. A small step in their own way, if you ask me!

Pros:

1)Light weight and folds up small so it can fit into a diaper bag or even a smaller handbag without eating up much space.

2) Easy to use so a great option especially for beginners.

3) Comes in pretty fabric and colour choices as well as budgets.

Cons:

1) One cannot stop at purchasing just one!
